NATHAN REEP - Elementary Assistant

Originally from Austin, Texas, my life has taken me all over the country. I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in hospitality management and was focused on becoming a golf professional when I decided that was not the life for me. I ended up outside of Pie Town, New Mexico working at an organic goat dairy. Living off the grid, relying on solar power and harvested rainwater, I learned to take care of goats and make goat cheese. From there I travelled to Oregon where I worked on multiple farms and dairies including my own farm, where I grew apples, pears, plums, grapes and berries.

It was in Oregon where my daughter Holly was born. I moved back to New Mexico so she could be closer to her grandparents and that is where my Montessori career began. I took a job as the horticultural manager at Camino de Paz Montessori Farm & School in Espanola.  That is where I first got to experience the benefits of Montessori education. I witnessed how empowering kids with real work and connecting them with nature can lead them to grow in amazing ways.

I am very excited to work here at La Mariposa and share some of the knowledge I have acquired through my lifetime. From animal husbandry to outdoor skills, farming and gardening to handiwork, I am anxious to share these skills with the students, that will stick with them for a lifetime.
